Generations of Gulluoglu

4th Generation Mustafa Güllü

Nejat Güllü

Son of Pilgrim Mustafa Gullu, Mustafa Gullu started apprenticeship when he was a 10 year old boy at his father's store. He was first initiated as a baklava maker on the same store his father created but managed by his uncles since. He continued his studies and worked at the same time. He worked in summers, and studied in winter time. He had the chance to be a doctor, but his father's legacy was, "my sons shall do what I did so far", so he quit studying medicine and he kept doing this job with his brother Halit at 1948 at a different store. He paid more money to the workers than himself, gave that store to his cousin Tahir Oztemir and went to Istanbul.

First time the name of Gulluoglu was officially taken was because of Mustafa Gullu. He applied to Istanbul Commerce Office and make the name official. Mustafa Gullu showed advertisement on cinemas, did some flyers for newspapers, and put his name on tram and underground stops. As he worked hard, his health situation went to worse. But he kept on working until 1959. He returned to Gaziantep but managed the store until 1969, when his eldest son Nejat Güllü took over. When he got his health back, he returned to Istanbul. He still works at Karakoy store everyday. .
